I am the deputy editor of the politics and government department at The Washington Post. Previously, I was deputy D.C. bureau chief for the Los Angeles Times. I ran the politics team at The Atlantic through the 2020 election, the Capitol insurrection, and the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Before that, I spent 5 years at HuffPost and 8 years at Mother Jones. I've also written for The Economist, Slate, Washington Monthly and Commonweal. I'm on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
